FAQ

DSC_0169Cornhole sounds gross, what is it?
Cornhole is a game that is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called Cornhole platforms and bags filled with corn instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their bags at the Cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. To learn more, visit the Cornhole Rules page.

How does the league scheduling work?

Generally, we have several time slots for each league that we host. Your team will play 1 match (3 games) in one of the time slots each week. The league schedule is generated one week prior to the start of the league, and you should get an email letting you know that the schedule has been posted online. Match-ups and times are emailed each week prior to league night. Each match can take approximately 30-45 minutes to play. We recommend that you show up 15-20 minutes before you are scheduled to play.

How does league scoring work?
You play one match per outing, 1 match = 3 games. Games are scored with traditional 21 point scoring, and the best out of three wins the match. A league point is given for each game won within a match and for winning a match.

Example: Game 1 Team 1 (21) – Team 2 (19) Game 2 Team 1 (18) – Team 2 (21) Game 3 Team 1 (21) – Team 2 (15). The match winner is Team 1. Team 1 gets 3 league points (2 for games; 1 for match) Team 2 gets 1 league point (1 for game).

Rank Team Name League Points Match Wins Game Wins Game Losses Game Win % Games Played
1 Team 1 3 1 2 1 66.66% 3
2 Team 2 1 0 1 2 33.33% 3

I like to sleep in, can I pick a time slot to play in?
Unfortunately, due to the number of teams, 6-16 in each league, we can not tailor the schedule for individual teams. Although, if you let us know in advance we will do our best to work with you.

DSC_0162I can’t make it one week and don’t want to forfeit, can I make up a match?
We don’t want anyone to have a forfeit, and will try to accommodate the schedule the best we can. Although, if the match is not made up by the conclusion of the final week of regular season it will count as a forfeit. Absolutely NO subs or ringers in the playoffs. All playoff games must be played when scheduled. Please notify us in advance of any dates you are unable to attend.

How much does the league cost and how do I pay?
League fee is $50 per team (2 players). This includes 1 match (3 games) each week for 8-10 weeks. A minimum of 6 teams is required for leagues to start. Go to our registration page and sign up for a league. After the form is filled out, then click the Pay Now button and make your payment through Paypal. Otherwise let us know if you would like to pay by check. Check payment must be received 1 week prior to the league start date and your slot won’t be confirmed until the check clears.

What do I get if I win the league?
Kansas City Cornhole, LLC events are more than just a game for cash prizes. They are about having fun, competing for an event title and building a community. We want these experiences to be fun and enjoyable to all those who participate! Prizes are announced before each league, and it is not always guaranteed that there will be a prize.

My partner has a hangover, can I bring a sub?
Yes. For regular season play, we would prefer that you bring a substitute and play, rather than not show up. We just ask that one person playing be a legitimate team member. No ringer teams in the playoffs! All substitutes need to fill out a waiver release when they show up.

dsc_0053I’m a woman, can I play?
Definitely, Kansas City Cornhole, LLC is a co-ed league accepting any and all players. Woman have the option of pitching from 24 feet or 27 feet.

I’m a beginner, will I get crushed every week by elite gamers?
Our leagues are designed for every skill level, from beginner to advanced. We want everyone to come out and meet new people, have some drinks, and just play some Cornhole.

Are there skunks?
We are a NO skunk league. Weather you are the one doing the skunk-ing or getting skunked we are all here to have fun. Take some time to get to know one another, share stories, or practice.

What’s the deal with the playoffs?
League Playoffs take a (1) match elimination tournament format. The playoff tournament is played on the final night of the league. All league members are in the playoffs, and seeding is done based on your performance during the league. All matches are best 2 out of 3 games, except the finals which is the best 3 out of 5.

The playoff bracket is posted and linked to from the league schedule after the conclusion of week 9. The reason that we have to wait to post the bracket is because the playoff schedule is based off of the leagues standings. Absolutely no subs or ringers in the playoffs. All playoff games must be played in advance or when scheduled otherwise will result in forfeit.

How do I get a piece of the action?
Go to our Registration page and follow the instructions.

How old do I have to be to play?

If the weather is miserable, how do I know if the league night has been canceled?
We generally look for establishments that have sufficient indoor space for our leagues so we can avoid most weather conditions like rain, light snow, cold, etc. If for any reason we need to cancel a particular league night, all league team captains will be notified of any changes or cancellations via email and/or phone provided during registration.
